For my Artist steal project i decided to do a Cross over of one of my Favorite records (Sonic Youth's: Goo) and one of my most favorite films (Quintin Tarantino's: Pulp Fiction) Since the album cover and the film characters are very similar i decided to put the main characters as if they were on the album cover. i also included the original album cover for reference.
My observation art project consisted of Pencil Sketching 2-D, one of the members of Damon Albarn's cartoon band/Music project; Gorillaz. The reason i chose this as my topic for my project is mostly for personal reasons. Gorillaz have been one of my most favorite bands since Elementary school, In fact i can still remember saving up my lunch money in the 4th grade for 2 weeks, and waiting in anticipation for my dad to take me to Barnes & Noble after school to go and buy "Demon Dayz". Which was also the very first record i bought with my own money.
For my observation art assignment i went to Common Grounds coffee shop in downtown Apex, I am a frequent customer and good friend of all the employees there, including the manager, so when i asked if i could place an old Stretch Armstrong toy on one of their coffee tables for a school assignment, they thought it was a great idea and encouraged me to do so, i sat across the coffee shop for about an hour watching the toy, the only attention it ever got was the occasional toddler testing its renowned elasticity in an attempt to break the toy. one toddler got very frustrated and proceeded to dunk the toy in the melted, soupy liquid of what was once his ice cream, his mother saw this, recognized the toy, and went to the bathroom to clean it off. then when she returned, she explained to her son how she had a toy very similar to this one when she was younger and proceeded to play a game of tug-a-war with her son.
